The Monday Musical Club of Southwestern Michigan is a non-profit philanthropic and educational organization dedicated to music education and promotion of creative and performing arts. Programs include professional musicians, artists-educators, music educators, student and junior artists and local music enthusiasts.
MMC is dedicated to finding and fostering young musical talent by supporting a Student and Junior Club program and scholarship opportunities.
MMC objectives include creating an understanding and appreciation of the value of music in the home, community, nation and world.
Student and Junior Clubs
The Monday Musical Student and Junior Clubs is dedicated to enrich the music education of aspiring musicians, future music educators and future patrons of the arts by providing an opportunity to polish their performance skills and learn from professional artist-educators through an enrichment performance and presentation.
The Clubs meet the fourth Saturday morning September through November and January through April. The student leadership led meeting structure includes a business meeting (brief announcements), a student recital (less than one hour) and a guest artist-educator or ensemble presentation performance (approximately 45-55 minutes) followed by a social and refreshments. Members’ attendance is not required but encouraged. We understand busy schedules.
Clubs are defined by age: The Student Club is for collegiate students whereas The Junior Club is for students 19 years of age and under not yet attending college. However, students of all age studying instrumental studies including piano, strings, wind, percussion and voice are welcome.
Further, the Federation fully supports students of Theatre, Musical Theatre, Dance and Poetry. As we continue to grow, Monday Musical includes programs in support of these performing arts genre.
Scholarship opportunities are available for qualifying students. Updated scholarship competition rules are available and posted under Members following the annual teacher meeting in June.
Students of Monday Musical Club of Southwest Michigan teacher and/or parent members are invited to become members. Contact and membership information are listed on this website or contact Monday Musical Club Advisors, Candace Onweller, Paula Steuernagel, or Li Wang for additional information.

Senior Club Chorus
The Monday Musical Club Chorus is a group of women who love to sing in a choral setting. The MMC Chorus prepares three programs per year:
Rehearsals for the annual vespers service begin in October. The Monday Musical Club Annual Candlelight Vesper Service is held the first Sunday afternoon in December. The chorus performs seasonal compositions including a sing-along of Handel’s Messiah “Hallelujah Chorus.” Area professional and aspiring artists’ performances round out the music program. The annual vesper service is open to the public as a gift to the community. Free will offerings are donated to the Goodfellows Fund.
Rehearsals for the spring concert begin in March for an early May performance with the option to perform at the annual Michigan Federation of Music Clubs Annual State Convention in the All-State Massed Chorus in mid-May. Seasonal, musical theatre, gospel and classical compositions are performed.
Members of Monday Musical Club are eligible to audition prior to the beginning of each program rehearsal season. Contact the Monday Musical Club Audition Chairman for dates, times and locations. There is one required audition composition; however, we encourage you also perform a composition of your choice to show your range and style.
